The new infrastructure is planned for the beginning of 2026 and will serve the club’s ice hockey and figure skating sections while the Espai Barça is under construction.
The University of Barcelona has temporarily allocated part of its sports facilities on Avinguda Diagonal to host FC Barcelona’s new temporary ice rink, which is currently under construction and is expected to be operational early next year.

The infrastructure will serve the club’s ice hockey and figure skating sections, which have had to move their activities to external areas as a result of the works at the Espai Barça.

The facility, which has a capacity for 750 people a day on the rink and 330 spectators, will be open to the public and for sports use. In fact, this will be the only fixed ice rink in Barcelona and the third in Catalonia, along with those in Puigcerdà and the Palai de Gèu in Vielha.

The works are being carried out by virtue of a concession through a public tender, in an area of the UB Sports pitch, where no activity is currently taking place. The concession is for a period of four years, extendable for a maximum of two more.

The project incorporates energy efficiency and sustainability criteria, in line with the club’s environmental commitments, and plans to install photovoltaic panels for self-generation of energy.

With this agreement, the UB continues to place its facilities at the service of society and federated sporting activity to guarantee compatibility with its teaching and university activities.
