The University of Barcelona, the most sought-after university in Catalonia as a first choice

The University of Barcelona is once again the most sought-after Catalan university as a first choice. It has been chosen by 18,122 new students out of a total of 62,238 who applied to enter the Catalan university system this year. It also ranks first in terms of total admissions (11,914) and first-choice admissions (7,718). The UB‘s place offering represents 25% of the total number of places in the entire Catalan university system, but the number of applications it receives as a first choice is 29.12%.

Six of the eight most sought-after degrees by new students are offered by the UB. The degree in Medicine at the Clinic Campus, with 1,848 first-choice applications, ranks first. The other UB degrees that are among the most sought-after are Dentistry, with 1,110 applications and the third most sought-after in Catalonia; Business Administration and Management, with 1,098; Psychology, with 1,038; Law, with 849; and Nursing at the Bellvitge Campus, with 845.
The UB is the university with the highest cut-off mark among institutions offering 100 or more places, with a mark of 12.85 for the degree in Medicine taught at the Clínic Campus. For degrees offering fewer than forty places, the cut-off mark for the double degree in Physics and Mathematics ranks second (with 13.17), behind the same degree at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (13.37).
