The University of Barcelona and the Catalonia College of Music (ESMUC) are once again joining forces to organise the second edition of the Night of Music, a unique event that will take place on Thursday 13 June, from 6.00 p.m. to 12 midnight. This evening promises to be an authentic musical journey, with a programme that includes everything from ancient polyphony to jazz and electronic composition, as well as classical music and lied.
The concerts will be held in different iconic spaces of the UB’s Historic Building, such as the Paranymph Hall, the Aula Magna, the Stairway of Honour, the main hall, the Ferran Soldevila garden and the Montserrat Roig courtyard. In addition, there will be guided tours of the Clock Tower, with registration from 6.00 p.m. to 8.40 p.m. in the Arts Courtyard. Admission to the concerts is free, with limited capacity.

The vice-rector for Culture, Memory and Heritage, Agustí Alcoberro, stresses the importance of this event for the UB: “The Night of Music brings together two key concepts for the UB: historical and artistic heritage, and music. It is a perfect combination that is sure to attract many people linked to the University and the city, especially students and young people”.

This year, the Night of Music has the participation of the School of Music Jam Session, which joins the groups already present in the first edition. Apart from the UB’s own bands, such as the Orquestra Universitat de Barcelona, the Schola Cantorum Universitaria Barinonensis, the UB Choir and the Choir of the Faculty of Philology and Communication, groups from ESMUC, the Liceu Conservatory, the Taller de Músics and the Victoria de los Ángeles Foundation are also taking part.

This event consolidates the UB as one of the city’s musical venues beyond comparison, which stands out in the field of higher musical education. The evening promises to be an unforgettable experience that combines historic architecture with a rich and diverse musical offering. On the night of 13 June, music and history will come together to offer a magical evening that will leave no one indifferent.
