The European Researchers’ Night, which every year brings research to more than a million people in a simple and fun way, will be held during the last week of September. The University of Barcelona will participate in this event, with a new edition of the UB Science Cafés: relaxed talks in which researchers and the audience talk about a wide range of current issues, such as water management, educational models in Catalan schools or the use of big data in health.

The first session will take place on Wednesday 25: it is titled “Més enllà del sol i del vent” (Beyond the sun and the wind) and will be devoted to renewable energies. This year, the Cafés will be held on alternate Wednesdays at 6.30 p.m. in the cafeteria of the Altaïr bookshop. There will be up to seven talks and, to attend, it is necessary to register in advance on the project’s website.

The European Researchers’ Night is held on the last Friday of September every year, but thanks to its popularity, it has been extended in the days leading up to it, over the weekend and throughout much of the autumn. The programme of activities taking place in Catalonia is available online.

The UB Science Cafés are organized by the Scientific Culture and Innovation Unit (UCC+I), with the collaboration of several UB faculties and research institutes. It also has the support of the
Office of the Vice-Rector for Doctoral Studies, Trainee Research Staff and Talent Attraction, the Office of the Vice-Rector for Research, and the Spanish Foundation for Science and Technology of the Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities. The initiative is co-funded by the European Union’s Horizon Europe research and innovation programme, under the NitRecerCat2425 project (101162003).
