The University of Barcelona took part in NAFSA’s Annual Conference & Expo. This international association brings together more than 10,000 education professionals from all over the world, aiming to promote academic exchange. The meeting, a benchmark for higher education centres, took place in San Diego (California). While in the United States, the UB delegation visited several campuses of the University of California, with which it has maintained collaborations for over fifty years.
This longstanding relationship allows for exchanges with the nine campuses of the University of California system, which is one of the most prestigious in the United States and worldwide. The UB delegation visited the campuses in Santa Barbara, Irvine, Riverside and San Diego. This link between the two universities is part of the University of California Education Abroad Program (UCEAP) and the Global UB Mobility initiative.
The UB delegation also visited San Diego State University, with which the UB’s Faculty of Business and Economics has an active agreement through the UB Global Faculty programme.
The meetings in California have strengthened institutional ties, explored new opportunities for collaboration and promoted the international mobility within the UB community. “The University of Barcelona reaffirms its commitment to its partners in the United States, especially in the face of the ongoing challenges to academic freedom and university autonomy”, said Raúl Ramos, vice-rector for Internationalization Policy.
