The series of concerts Els Vespres dʼHivern of the University of Barcelona is holding its third edition, willing to fill March up with music and warmth. Supported by the enthusiastic and loyal reception in the previous winter and summer editions, this cycle aims to become -once more- a unique window full of artistic emerging proposals with a great creative value.

This yearʼs program goes for diverse musical styles and will have the performances by Jo Jet and Maria Ribot, Intana, Júlia and María José Llergo and Marc López. The bands in this poster share personality, vigour, a high potential and a personal staging which will get the attention of the most curious ears to discover new sounds.

The concerts will take place on March 2, 9, 16 and 23, in the Paranimph of the Historical Building, an emblematic place that brings strength and solemnity to these performances. Entrance is free and tickets can be downloaded from the website, but there is limited capacity.

Els Vespres dʼHivern includes the brilliant songs by Jo Jet and Maria Ribot, the catching and intimate folk pop by Intana, the hypnotic and electronic vibe from Júlia and the flamenco fusion by María José Llergo and Marc López.

March 2. JO JET AND MARIA RIBOT

This duo from Manresa is presenting their second album, Lliure o descansar, which represents the night side of life. Their songs give a glimpse of references like Bon Iver, Sufjan Stevens, Fink and Jónsi. A lively and honest songbook that explores new paths maintaining a genuine essence. An independent sound, a classic format and a pop base with a unique and personal formula.

March 9. INTANA

Núria Moliner created the soundtrack for mornings with wild landscapes and dusty paths, golden evenings or nights that become intense early mornings. With a charming voice, this singer sings about loss and getting lost, about challenges and fears, about love, confessions, leaving and coming back. This debut album is a collection of evocative songs and delicacy in intimate atmospheres. Acoustic, bright and intimate pop, with hints of American folk music.

March 16. JÚLIA

Estela Tormo and Lídia Vila are the perfect core for Júlia. Their proposal results from austerityʼs exuberance and it gets easily deep into synthetic landscapes and electronic mantra built up out of synthesizers, programming, and rhythm boxes, with a careful work on guitar and voice. They are presenting their second album, Pròxima B, a collection of hypnotic and stimulant pop songs in Valencian language.

March 23. MARÍA JOSÉ LLERGO AND MARC LÓPEZ

María José Llergo and Marc López bring a personal concert in which, coming from flamenco roots, play their own and traditional songs in a personal way that leads to a fusion. They prioritize emotion with her warm and sweet voice, singing through good taste and Marc López at the Spanish guitar.

Mireia Madroñero took charge of the artistic direction and coordination for this cycle, which is produced by Bankrobber and sponsored by Estrella Damm.
