Exhibition of the sculpture Arrels, by the artist Jaume Plensa

It is a bronze piece in natural colour, measuring 200 × 123 × 123 cm, created in 2018 and made up of characters and letters of different alphabets that, linked together, form the figure of a human body.

The nine alphabets (Arabic, Chinese, Cyrillic, Greek, Hindi, Tamil, Japanese, Hebrew and Latin) are the artist's metaphor for celebrating the diversity of origins and cultures around the world. He uses letters and characters as biological cells to create a body that represents the whole of humanity.
