The emeritus professor of the Faculty of Psychology Maria Teresa Anguera has died. A teaching member of the Department of Social Psychology and Quantitative Psychology, she was an expert in behavioural science methodology and held several management positions at the University of Barcelona.

The emeritus professor of the Faculty of Psychology Maria Teresa Anguera has died. A teaching member of the Department of Social Psychology and Quantitative Psychology, she was an expert in behavioural science methodology and held several management positions at the University of Barcelona.
Joan Guàrdia, rector of the UB, said that he had known Anguera for many years and highlighted several things about her: “I don’t know if we will ever get used to her being gone. She was always there, always available, always reachable, always doing university work. I have never met anyone capable of doing so much for everyone at all times”. He also highlighted her commitment to the institution: “The University of Barcelona was her dedication and reference. She showed an institutional loyalty that is a role model to follow”.
Antonio Solanas, dean of the Faculty of Psychology, stated that “from an academic point of view, Anguera has left a fundamental mark in the area of behavioural science methodology in Spain, especially in the speciality of observational methodology, both in the context of teaching and research”. He also pointed out “her institutional involvement, as demonstrated by her acceptance of responsibilities at the University”.
Maria Teresa Anguera’s contributions to research through observational methodology are worth mentioning. These allowed her to generate a whole theoretical, strategic and technical development to capture any type of human behaviour in its natural context. She was the author of an enormous number of works: more than 300 research articles and 182 publications, including books and book chapters. It is also worth mentioning her work in knowledge transfer, with more than 470 communications in congresses, 150 conferences given and 72 invited lectures. She was awarded honorary doctorates by the University of La Laguna, the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, the Pontifical University of Salamanca and the University of Lleida. She held various positions in the Faculty and was vice-rector at the University of Barcelona, among other university management tasks.
