Maseras, the first of many

Maseras, the first of many
14/03/23 - 31/03/23
Culture : Institutional

This exhibition commemorates the enrolment of the first woman in a university course in Spain: Maria Elena Maseras, who was admitted to the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Barcelona in the academic year 1872-1873.

Maseras was the first of many: the first woman to enter the world of higher education and the one that opened the doors to all those who came after her, and particularly to Dolors Aleu and Martina Castells, who ten years later would put on their doctoral graduation caps. On this 150th anniversary we celebrate that the University of Barcelona is a place dedicated to teaching, research and knowledge transfer, but also a place of encounter, respect and plurality.

Location:
Faculty of Medicine (until 31st March)
