Today, Wednesday 26 April, the 17th Science and Engineering Fair took place. This is a meeting place for companies and students from the faculties of Biology, Earth Sciences, Pharmacy and Food Sciences, Physics, Mathematics and Computer Science, and Chemistry. A record number of 116 companies took part, a figure that could have been even higher, as some of the firms that had applied for the event were unable to attend due to lack of capacity.

Among the present companies were, for example, the consultancy CGI Deutschland, which works with the European Space Agency; car companies such as Volkswagen and Bertrandt, an electric vehicle manufacturer; robotics companies such as PAL Robotics; food companies such as Nestlé and Danone; semiconductor manufacturers such as Monolithic Power, and equipment such as the ALBA Synchrotron and the Barcelona Supercomputing Centre. Representatives from these and many other companies contacted the almost 900 students registered, from almost twenty bachelor and engineering studies and more than fifty master's degrees. In addition, students who had not registered attended the event too.

Prior to the fair, students had been able to register for a number of workshops on CV writing or workshops on preparing for job interviews and presentations. Once the fair is over, they will be able to attend a series of virtual activities with some of the participating companies, such as casual talks and presentations, and a role-playing organized by the company Endress+Hauser, which will pose a real problem for the students to help solve or improve it. In addition, this year some of these activities will take place for the first time in a face-to-face format, specifically at the offices of Monolitic Power Systems and Qilimanjaro.

On the same day as the fair, a masterclass on meteorology and renewable energy generation forecasts has been held, promoted by the Institute of Knowledge Engineering of the Autonomous University of Madrid.
