The University of Barcelona is the Spanish leading institution in the World Reputation Ranking, which selects the most prestigious universities according to the opinions of academics from all over the world. Specifically, the UB is the only university in Spain to be ranked in the top 101-to-150 universities.
The UB is followed, in the 151-200 range, by the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid, the Carlos III University of Madrid, the Complutense University of Madrid and the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona. The universities holding the first three positions are Harvard University, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Oxford University.
The Times Higher Education World Reputation Rankings are made from data collected in an academic opinion survey. The academics are asked to choose up to 15 institutions for research and up to 15 institutions for teaching, and to compare different universities. In this edition, more than 55,000 responses were received. The final ranking considers the number of votes received by each university, as well as the diversity of the votes obtained, both in terms of geographical origin and the field of knowledge of the academics who voted for them.
