The University of Barcelona is once again the Spanish leading institution in the new edition of the Center for World University Rankings (CWUR), while maintaining 134th place in the world and 47th in Europe.

The CWUR ranking analyses about 20,000 universities around the world, 20,966 in this year’s edition, and the UB is in the top 0.7% of them. The CWUR is based on indicators relating to both teaching and research, based on four fundamental aspects: the quality of teaching — measured by the number of former students who have won international prizes or awards; the employability of alumni — that is, the number of alumni who are senior managers in large international companies; the quality of teaching and research staff — measured by the number of those who have won international prizes; and the resarch outputs and performance. The UB stands out in this research indicator, in which it is ranked 70th in the world.

The Spanish universities that follow the UB in the CWUR ranking are Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (196th), the Complutense University of Madrid (244) and the University of Valencia (296). Globally, the top positions are held by Harvard University, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), Stanford University, Cambridge University and Oxford University.
