The launch of the new edition of The UB in figures, with the most important data for the academic year 2023-2024, coincides with the inauguration of the academic year 2024-2025. This year’s edition presents the main figures of the University of Barcelona and its academic activity, as well as the evolution of certain variables over the last few academic years, in a comprehensible and attractive way. The Services section of the document includes new indicators linked to integration and attention to diversity, such as the number of students with special educational needs (SEN) attended to within the Integration Programmes (a total of 1,507), as well as the number of hours of sign language interpretation service provided to students: 1,229 hours.

The launch of the new edition of The UB in figures, with the most important data for the academic year 2023-2024, coincides with the inauguration of the academic year 2024-2025. This year’s edition presents the main figures of the University of Barcelona and its academic activity, as well as the evolution of certain variables over the last few academic years, in a comprehensible and attractive way. The Services section of the document includes new indicators linked to integration and attention to diversity, such as the number of students with special educational needs (SEN) attended to within the Integration Programmes (a total of 1,507), as well as the number of hours of sign language interpretation service provided to students: 1,229 hours.
The UB in figures highlights the University’s extensive range of course offer, with 72 bachelor’s degrees, 16 dual-path degrees, 173 university master’s degrees and 47 doctoral programmes. There are more than 60,000 students: 41,078 undergraduate, 5,679 masters’ and 10,856 postgraduate students, plus 5,100 research trainees. One of the many data provided by the latest study on labour market insertion carried out by the Catalan University Quality Assurance Agency (AQU) stands out: 86.1% of graduates are already working within one year and 90.4% in the specific case of master’s degrees.
In terms of teaching improvement, some remarkable figures are that 83.2% of teaching staff have taken some training at the Professional Development Institute (IDP) in the last year, that 511 lecturers have taken part in the call for teaching evaluation and that 796 UB staff are involved in recognized teaching innovation projects. In the area of internationalization, there are 2,852 agreements in force with foreign universities and other institutions, as well as a graphic display of the increase in the number of foreign students admitted to the UB over the period, which rose by 12% in the last academic year.
In the Research section, The UB in figures shows the number of scientific publications by UB researchers in indexed journals (7,751) and the 1,283 active research projects. It also states that last year the UB, through the Bosch i Gimpera Foundation (FBG) — its technology and knowledge transfer office — managed 663 contracts for the transfer of knowledge and applied for 153 patents.
Another section refers to staff, and it shows that in 2024 there will be 6,412 members of the PDI (49.6% women) and 2,608 members of the PTGAS (62.8% women). In the economic chapter, the budget of more than 501 million euros is broken down by chapters. In terms of services, it can be read that the CRAI libraries have a collection of monographs and journals in paper format amounting to 1,688,364 copies. The number of direct beneficiaries of the actions of the UB Solidarity Foundation (122,192) and the number of UB Alumni members (10,167) is also relevant.

It is also a letter of presentation of the University to other institutions, both national and international, and to society as a whole. Prepared by the Technical Bureau at the Rector’s Office and published by UB Editions, this year 720 copies have been printed in Catalan, 370 in Spanish and 870 in English. The Catalan version is now available online, and the Spanish and English versions will be available soon.
