The UB at the Education Fair
The University of Barcelona will be present from 15 to 19 March at the Education Fair, where it will have a newly designed stand, with a strong presence of interactive technologies to facilitate personalized support and counselling. The UB's educational offer for the academic year 2023-2024 will be presented, including a new degree in Geography and Global Change, designed to train professionals who will contribute to building a more sustainable future.
The University's academic offer for the academic year 2023-2024 includes 73 bachelor's degrees, 16 double degrees and more than 160 university master's degrees. The UB is adding to this offer the new degree in Geography and Global Change, a pioneering degree in Catalonia and in Spain. Structured over four years (240 ECTS credits), it will be taught at the Faculty of Geography and History with the aim of providing a solid geographic education that includes the theoretical foundations relating to knowledge of geographic scenarios, the spatial organization of natural and social phenomena and dynamics, and their interrelationships at different scales. It is also designed to provide training in the design of territorial and environmental planning and management strategies aimed at adapting to and mitigating the consequences of global change. The degree allows students to take two specializations: the first in territorial planning and management and the second in environment.
In addition, several UB degrees have increased from 180 to 240 ECTS, with new knowledge, skills and competences, such as the degree in Design, Animation and Digital Art for Video Games and Applied Games, the degree in Cinematography and the degree in Music and Sound Production for the Entertainment Industry.
New app: TriaUB
The UB's new stand at the fair will be 180 square metres in size. It will have tablets to help the people who will attend to visitors and interactive touch screens for personalized advice. In addition, audiovisuals will be projected on a wall-mounted LED panel and visitors will be able to enjoy a range of immersive experiences. Everything is designed to facilitate individualised attention and advice. Specifically, a total of 75 student mentors from second to fourth year of all the UB's bachelor's degrees, as well as technicians from the Student Support Service, will attend to visitors.
From 15 March, it will also be possible to download the new app, TriaUB, created with specific content for the future students. The app will provide access to the new bachelor's degree search engine with information about the degree courses; videos with advice on how to successfully pass the university entrance exams and choose a course; a section with frequently asked questions; information about open days, and information about the location of the campuses and the UB centers. The app, which will be available in the Apple Store and Play Store, will also send notifications to the future students to accompany them in their journey to the University (they will receive information on the access and admission processes, key facts, advice, etc.).
There will also be a specific information point on the Penyafort-Montserrat Residence Hall and three information points for UB-affiliated centres (the Institute for Public Security of Catalonia, the Public Relations School and the Cinema and Audiovisual School of Catalonia).
