László Krasznahorkai: life, literary work and the road to the Nobel Prize
The Swedish Academy has just awarded Hungarian writer László Krasznahorkai the Nobel Prize in Literature, recognizing his “visionary and compelling work that explores the spiritual ruins of modernity”. Although many of his works have been translated into Spanish, what can we say about him to someone who has not yet read his literature?
László Krasznahorkai was born on 5 January 1954 in Gyula, a small town in south-eastern Hungary, near the Romanian border. This peripheral environment, marked by history and isolation, had a profound influence on his literary sensibility.
