The Faculty of Law of the University of Barcelona is one of the venues for the conference in homage to Javier Elola, a prestigious jurist and attorney general of the Republic who was shot by Franco’s troops.

The session at the UB will take place on Monday 12 May at 10.00 am, it will be opened by the dean of the Faculty of Law, Andreu Olesti. This session will consist of a round table with José Ricardo de Prada, judge of the Audiencia Nacional (National High Court), César Estirado, public prosecutor, and Begoña López, judge of Jueces y Juezas por la Democracia (Judges for Democracy). Topics such as the judiciary in the Second Republic and the repression of the dictatorship in this area will be discussed.

The conference, which will also be held at the La Model Cultural Centre and the Parliament of Catalonia, is organized by the Catalan Association of Political Expressions of Francoism, Democratic Memorial and the University of Barcelona.
