The University has organized many more activities to mark 8M, which can be found on this website. As in previous years, the graphic image for 8M at the UB is based on portraits of specific women, on this occasion members of the Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science.
The scheduled activities include exhibitions (both in-person and virtual), lectures, workshops, book displays, music and audiovisual performances, guided tours from a gender perspective at some centres, and more recreational events. Also, as part of 8M, the third edition of the edit-a-thon will take place, with the aim of creating and editing content on Wikipedia from a gender perspective and reducing the knowledge gap about women scientists.
The event on 5 March will include a poetry recital by La SubVERSiva and the presentation of the Clara Campoamor and Rosalind Franklin awards for the best final bachelor’s and master’s degree projects with a gender perspective. The event “Back to the Auditorium: 50 Years of the First Catalan Women’s Conference” will also be presented, which the University will host the following day, 6 March.
Half a century ago, the Historic Building hosted the First Catalan Women’s Conference, considered a turning point for feminism, in which members of the UB participated. Now, the event is commemorated in the same venue as in 1976, with a programme that includes remembrance of the activists, poetry readings and artistic performances.
