L’altaveu carabassaire, Més enllà del conte and El RebUBinat are the three proposals best valued by the jury of the 2nd Maria Sabater Videopodcast Competition out of the 15 submitted. The commission, made up of experts from the UB’s Department of Communication, considered criteria such as originality, the cross-disciplinarity of the subject, the ability to communicate or connect with the potential audience and the representation of diversity.

The three selected proposals

L’altaveu carabassaire is the proposal brought by Yves Ainaud López, Pere Varias Pacheco, David Pablo Villalba, Berta Homs Bastardas and Ferran Sellart Guàrdia. With a light-hearted, relaxed and humorous tone, each programme will deal with an issue that affects UB students and society as a whole. It will include sections with guests who are experts in the subject of each episode and sections with guests from student associations, as well as a UB cultural agenda.

Més enllà del conte is the title of the proposal by Gisela Bascuñana Urdillo, David Calvo Albacete, Aina Comaposada Piñol and Jana Galmán Vila. The programme aims to review the audiovisual imagery that marked the students’ childhood and adolescence: films, classic series, popular tales and toys. The aim is not to cancel or judge the stories, but to encourage critical reflection on audiovisual culture in a close and conversational way.

El RebUBinado, by Meritxell Antúnez Carbajo and Otto Rodríguez Castillo, is a film news programme. Each episode will look at a central feminist and queer issue or problem, such as the Bechdel test and the films that fail it, or the breakdown of heteronormative masculinity in cinema. It will include, among others, a current affairs section (premieres, festivals or gossip from the audiovisual world) and a guest section.

A professional jury will select the winning proposal

This June, the three finalist teams will present their proposals at an event attended by professionals from the sector, who will decide which is the winning videopodcast. The first prize is 3,000 euros, the second best-valued proposal will receive 1,000 euros and the third will receive 500 euros.

The winning proposal will be responsible for the production, script and voice-over of an eight-episode programme, which will be published monthly from November 2025 to June 2026 on the UB’s Ivoox, Spotify and YouTube channels. The students responsible for the winning project will also receive support in the form of material and space (set at the Faculty of Information and Audiovisual Media), technical assistance for the recording and editing of the podcast and support from the Area for Communication for its dissemination.
