The UB launches the 1st Maria Sabater Videopodcast Competition
“The project results from the desire to involve students directly in the University’s communication activities, to generate and promote spaces and content self-managed by the students, who can contribute to their dynamization, in line with the UB’s governance objectives”, notes Laura Rosel, director of Communication.
The competition is named after Maria Sabater, who was the first host at Radio Barcelona and a pioneer in this field in Spain. The winning entry will be premiered on 14 November 2024, the 100th anniversary of the first radio broadcast in Catalonia.
Participation requirements and competition phases
To take part in the competition, all you have to do is be a student at the University, have an idea and a great desire to communicate. It is necessary to register the application for participation through a generic form in the electronic office, and fill in the form with the definition of the videopodcast, which must include eight episodes of monthly publication, and a teaser in video or soundtrack format. The deadline for registration for the competition is 10 July.
All the proposals submitted to the competition will be evaluated by a committee made up of experts from the UB’s Communication Area, considering criteria such as originality, the transversality of the subject, the ability to communicate and the representation of diversity. At the end of July, the three finalists will be selected and will be subjected to a public presentation with professionals from the sector in September. At this event, the winning programme will be announced, and cash prizes will be awarded to the three finalists: 3,000 euros for the winner, 1,000 euros for the second best-valued proposal and 500 euros for the third.
The winning programme will be published on the UB’s iVoox and Spotify channels, in audio format, and on the UB’s YouTube channel, in video format. The winners will be in charge of the production, script and voice of the programme during the academic year 2024-2025, and will have technical support and material to produce the episodes, as well as the dissemination of the programme through the UB’s communication channels.
The complete rules of the competition are available at the UB electronic office.
