The University of Barcelona has held a tribute ceremony on the occasion of the retirement of Joan Perera Parramon, doctor in Catalan Philology, professor and director, for more than a decade, of the Department of Linguistic, Scientific and Mathematical Education of the Faculty of Education.

The University of Barcelona has held a tribute ceremony on the occasion of the retirement of Joan Perera Parramon, doctor in Catalan Philology, professor and director, for more than a decade, of the Department of Linguistic, Scientific and Mathematical Education of the Faculty of Education.

The four chapters of the book trace the human imprint and the long professional career of Professor Perera at the UB, from the assemblies at Melcior de Palau to the construction of the Mundet Campus. As his colleagues have indicated in their speeches, this work is a token of the gratitude and appreciation of the entire university community. The ceremony was closed by the Rector of the UB, Joan Guàrdia, and the Dean of the Faculty of Education, Sílvia Burset, who also took part.
Joan Perera has developed his academic career as a lecturer in the Faculty of Education. Specifically, his field of expertise is language education and he has carried out research work in the Research Group for the Study of the Linguistic Repertoire (GRERLI). Among other topics, Professor Perera has carried out studies on the development of the linguistic repertoire and textual quality; the linguistic learning processes of children and young people from immigrant families; and the use of referential expressions and the role they play in the cohesion of narrative discourse. At the UB, Perera has held the position of director of what is currently the Department of Linguistic, Scientific and Mathematical Education.
