This year, the University of Barcelona’s Science Festival celebrates a new edition with seventy-one workshops in which the experts from diverse disciplines will explain, in a fun and easy-to-understand way, the research carried out at the UB. On Friday, May 30, there will be workshops aimed at school groups, while on Saturday, May 31, the activities will be open to all audiences. On Friday, the festival will take place from 9.00 am to 2.00 pm and on Saturday, it will start at 10.00 am and will end at 2.00 pm.

Visitors to the Historical Building will find workshops on food, biology, mathematics, neuroscience, archaeology, geography, history, physics, literature, chemistry, fine arts and medicine. This year, many workshops have been renewed. For example, there will be an immersive experience in which the public will experience two futures: one in which sustainable actions have contributed to preserving the planet and another apocalyptic one in which humans have not taken care of their environment. Workshops on mathematics and music, on edible plants or on complex decision-making, among many others, are also part of the festival.

A total of 440 researchers will take part in the festival, and to date, there are more than 1,800 registered school students to come on May 30.

The Science Festival is organized by La UB Divulga, with the support from the Spanish Foundation for Science and Technology. Researchers and volunteers take part, mainly UB students and technical, management, administrative and service staff.
