The University of Barcelona women’s futsal team has completed a historic participation in the EUSA 2025 European Universities Futsal Championship, which took place in Zagreb from 17 to 25 July. With a record of five wins and only one defeat, the team showed an extraordinary level, with 47 goals scored and only four conceded. In the final, they played against the National Pedagogical Dragomanov University (Ukraine), and the UB lost 2-4 in an intense match of the highest level.

The UB team, made up of players from nine different faculties who play for elite Catalan clubs, showed a very high level of play and cohesion, consolidating the University of Barcelona as one of the best on the continent. All the players — Marta García (Nursing), Stella Gómez, Martina Hernández and Alexandra Giró (Law and Industrial Relations), Lucía Jiménez and Andrea Luna (Education), Àngela Rodríguez (Biology), Elisabet Santamaria and Martina Pujol (National Institute of Physical Education and Sport of Catalonia), Laura Ollé (Public Security), Laia Rojo (Biomedical Sciences) and Laura Torres (Psychology) — are examples of excellence in combining studies and participation in elite sport.

In addition to the collective silver medal, the individual performance of Laia Rojo stands out: with ten goals, she was the top scorer of the tournament and, along with Laura Torres, was included in the All-Star team of the competition. A recognition of the technical quality, leadership and consistency throughout the tournament.
