The University of Barcelona did great at the Catalan University Championships 2025 (CCU) in team sports: the UB teams won seven of the twelve finals held on 11 March in Tarragona, the university sports village of this year’s edition.
The UB teams end their participation in the CCU 2025 team sports after winning the women’s basketball, football, futsal, handball and rugby, as well as men’s basketball and men’s handball. The University has improved its results from last year (five victories).
These seven teams join the UB swimming team, which won the university title at the CCU swimming championships, and Martina Laplana, champion of the CCU cross-country, and will represent Catalonia in the fight for the state title at the Spanish University Championships during April and May.

The CCU team sports, this year organized by the Rovira i Virgili University (URV), have been a great success and have been consolidated, for yet another year, as the benchmark competition in Catalan university sport.
The prize ceremony, presided over by the rector of the URV, Josep Pallarès, was held at the Palau Catalunya in the Mediterranean Ring. Among the attendees was the UB vice-rector for Students and University Life, Marta Ferrer.
