The director of the Area for Internationalization and Students of the University of Barcelona, Sergi Martínez, has presented at a conference organized by the Spanish Service for the Internationalization of Education (SEPIE), the work carried out, and the challenges faced by the UB as a university selected to be part of the Erasmus Without Papers (EWP) Champions. Sergi Martínez’s speech took place at the national event session on the European Student Card Initiative (ESCI) 2024, under the Erasmus+ Mobility Days for Higher Education. Specifically, he emphasized the digitalization that has been achieved in two of the key documents for Erasmus mobility: the agreements between universities to carry out student and staff exchanges, and the learning agreements. The latter include a commitment to the recognition of credits and subjects taken at origin and destination. “Currently, learning agreements are completed and signed completely digitally by the student, the home university and the host university. There is no paperwork involved”, says Sergi Martínez. He also explains that, to adapt to the EWP, “we have had to modify the applications for managing mobility, and this has been possible thanks to the teamwork of the International Mobility and Programmes Office (OMPI), the Area for Information and Communication Technologies and the Electronic Administration, Records Management and Documentary Heritage (SAEGPD)".
