Today, the University’s Historic Building hosted the award ceremony for the winning design of the UB 2025-2026 folder. The winning design was “Construint” (Building), by Maria Elena Casuso Guinart, a student of the Bachelor’s Degree in Fine Arts. The rector of the UB, Joan Guàrdia, and the vice-rector for Students and University Life, Marta Ferrer, attended the ceremony.
Of the 44 designs that were submitted, the jury chose “Construint”, a design based on illustrations that reflect various disciplines, as well as the values, inclusion and diversity promoted by the University. The design, which combines blue, red and orange, shows the Historic Building, among other elements that are representative of the Catalan identity. The winner noted that she “wanted to represent the different disciplines taught at the UB, as well as the studies and fieldwork, so that everyone can see themselves represented and understand the design as they wish”.
Of the 5,197 votes received, the winning entry received 1,860. The second prize went to Paula Llobera Ferrer, a student on the Bachelor’s Degree in Design, for the proposal “Edició limitada 575” (Limited edition 575), which received 1,352 votes. The third prize went to “Memòria UB”, by Jiahui Zhang, a student of the Master’s Degree in Biological Anthropology, who received 751 votes. The other finalists were, from most to least voted, “Atemporalitat barcelonina” with 329 votes, “Metamorfosi i Vestigis” with 307 votes, “575 visites” with 278 votes, “Inmersió UB” with 180 votes, and “575 anys junts” with 140 votes.
The first prize is 1,000 euros, while the second and third finalists receive 300 and 200 euros respectively, and all the other finalists receive 100 euros. They also received a certificate showing their status as finalists or winners of the competition.
By the end of the ceremony, the rector said that “the folder competition is very stimulating, as it offers us — renewed every year — the image of the university that the students have”, and added, referring to the winner that “this image you have created, now belongs to everyone, and that is the essence and the fundamental value of the University”.
