Doctoral students of the University of Barcelona have presented today in the Historical Building more than 140 posters and have given more than 60 monologues to explain the research they carry out. They have done so as part of the 1st UB Doctoral Research and Dissemination Session, which aims to promote the communication skills of doctoral students and encourage both professional and personal relationships in this group.

The program of the session, organized by the Council for the Representation of Doctoral Students of the UB, included a contest in which doctoral students had to share photographs that illustrate their daily research tasks on social networks. The winner of the monologue competition was  Toni Bertólez Martínez and the prize for the best poster went to Lorena Bonilla Vidal and Maria Pilar Diaz Ruiz. Finally, the winner of the competition in the category of social networks was Alejandro Colchero Triguero.

“The session is intended to be a meeting point and thus avoid the self-isolation that sometimes occurs while you is absorbed in your doctorate”, notes Gerard Esteruelas Navarro, predoctoral researcher and president of the Board of the Representation Council. More than 400 doctoral students from different disciplines, mostly from the fields of medical and health sciences and social sciences, took part in the session.

“We also want to use this workshop to show the Council of Representation of Doctoral Students of the UB and its willingness to serve as a transformative tool to give a voice to all the PhD students in the UB bodies and to work on solving their group’s problems”, said Esteruelas, who also added: “We are currently working together with the Doctoral School and the Vice-rector’s Office for Doctoral Studies and Trainee Research Staff, and we believe it is important for doctoral students to know about us so they can contact us whenever they need”.
