The Governing Council approves rules on the use of electronic media

The regulation, which aims to increase the efficiency and proper use of electronic equipment by the staff during their professional activity, was created in a context marked by a growing risk of cyber-attacks on the systems of public administrations and private institutions. The document aims to raise awareness among the UB community of the importance of using digital devices and personal and professional data correctly. Another of its aims is to promote responsible use in the dissemination of information.
Miquel Vidal, vice-rector for Quality Policy at the UB, presented the annual monitoring report on the implementation of the HRS4R (Human Resources Strategy for Researchers) Action Plan at the UB. This label, which the UB received in 2015, represents a guarantee of quality in the processes of recruitment and monitoring of the research careers of research staff at the University of Barcelona. Regularly, the institution must undergo periodic evaluations by Euraxess, the European Commission body in charge of this initiative.
This document, presented today in the Governing Council session, reports on the achievement of the actions of the HRS4R-UB 2024-27 Action Plan and quantifies the results of the actions initiated during the year 2024.
The session included the presentation of the follow-up report on the UB’s 1st CoARA Action Plan. The Coalition for Advancing Research Assessment (CoARA), of which the UB has been a member since its creation, was established in December 2022. The main aim of this coalition is to reform the research assessment system of institutions, an objective to which the UB is committed. CoARA’s four key points are to recognise the diversity of contributions and careers in research, to base research assessment primarily on qualitative assessment, to abandon the inappropriate use of journal and publication-based metrics in research assessment, and to avoid the use of research organization rankings in research assessment.
This document, also presented today at the Governing Council, analyses the monitoring of the implementation and degree of achievement of the actions of the CoARA UB 2024-27 Action Plan.
