World Radio Day is commemorated every 13 February in recognition of the media role in the dissemination of information, entertainment and education worldwide. This year Aquí Cataluña, the SER channel programme presented by Pablo Tallón, will celebrate this event at the Aula Magna of the Historic Building of the University of Barcelona (Gran Vía de les Corts Catalanes, 585).
Under the title “Any 101, mirant cap al futur”, this special programme will begin at 8.00 am, with an interview with the Rector of the University of Barcelona, Joan Guàrdia, and will end at 11.00 am. It will also include a conversation with David Bueno, researcher at the UB’s Faculty of Biology, who recently won the Josep Pla Prize for his essay L’art de ser humans (Ediciones Destino), as well as contributions from different students at the UB.

The broadcast can be followed live from the Aula Magna. Invitations can be obtained online. The event is supported by the Government of Catalonia.

Last year was the commemoration of the 100th anniversary of the beginnings of radio broadcasting in Catalonia and Spain, with a broadcast by Radio Barcelona on 14 November 1924.
