Politicians, academics, entrepreneurs and professionals from the new technologies sector debated issues such as the governance of the digital reality during the international conference Democracy4All, which this year celebrated its fifth edition, at the University of Barcelona’s Faculty of Economics and Business.
The main theme has been how digital technology can contribute to a better governance, with a particular focus on the dangers of artificial intelligence for democracy. The aim is to explore how new digital technologies can strengthen transparency, efficiency and citizens’ engagement with democracy.
Among the speakers were Michael Casey, journalist and internationally recognized expert on new technologies; Kristian Bartholin, head of the Council of Europe’s Digital Development Unit; and social media activist Evan Henshaw-Plath (known as Rabble). The sessions included lectures, panel discussions and interactive workshops, among other activities.
