Of these nineteen centres and institutes, seven are owned by the University of Barcelona: the Fundació de Recerca Clínic Barcelona - August Pi i Sunyer Biomedical Research Institute (FCRB-IDIBAPS), Institute for Bioengineering of Catalonia (IBEC), Bellvitge Biomedical Research Institute (IDIBELL), Josep Carreras Leukaemia Research Institute (IJC), Barcelona Institute for Research in Biomedicine (IRB), Sant Joan de Déu Research Institute (IRSJD) and Barcelona Institute for Global Health (ISGlobal).

Currently, these centres and institutes employ around 10,000 professionals and earn 600 million euros annually. The individual files for each centre can be consulted online.

The AQuAS interactive web portal is a tool for accountability and transparency on the responsible use of resources, which aims to measure, evaluate and disseminate the results obtained.
