The Governing Council of the University of Barcelona, gathered today in an ordinary session, approved the regulations for the organization and implementation of dual bachelor’s and master’s degrees at the UB. The dual degree is a training itinerary carried out in a complementary way at the university and at a collaborating entity — either a company or an organization —, under the supervision of the university. The aim of the approved document is to establish the general criteria and regulate the development of this training at the UB.
The University of Barcelona will implement the following studies with dual degree during the academic year 2025-2026: the bachelor’s degrees in Digital Business and Innovation in Tourism; Tourism; International Hotel Management; Marketing, Events and Entertainment, and Chemistry, and the master’s degrees in Chemical Engineering and Environmental Engineering. This training project represents a good opportunity to adapt university curricula to the current demands of the labour market and the training needs of students, as it allows them to apply the knowledge acquired in a real environment.
In the session, the UB’s programme of bachelor’s and master’s degrees for the academic year 2026-2027 was to be approved as well. This programme included the four degrees that the Institut del Teatre will offer as an UB-affiliated centre:
Another point of the day was to approve the University of Barcelona's programme of university bachelor's and master's degrees for the academic year 2026-2027, including the four degrees that the Institut del Teatre will offer as an affiliated centre of the UB: Theatre Performance, Stage Direction and Playwriting, Stage Design, and Dance: Pedagogy and Choreography.
The Governing Council also approved the calls for three professorat titular universitari (associate lecturer) positions, twenty-two professorat agregat (associate professor) positions and one associate lecturer position for researchers with I3 certification.
The rector’s report
In his report at the beginning of the session, the rector of the UB, Joan Guàrdia, shared with the representatives of the Governing Council some information and works related to the University’s current affairs. This is the case of the signing of the agreement for the Maria Goyri programme, which will allow the UB to recruit 365 assistant professor positions; the confirmation by the Government of Catalonia of the budget allocated to the MIES project — a major UB infrastructure project which, in addition to extending the PCB and research areas of the Faculty of Economics and Business and relocating the Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science, will also involve improvements to other centres, such as the faculties of Fine Arts and Pharmacy and Food Sciences — and the recent and successful inauguration of the Gramenet building on the UB’s Torribera Food Campus.
