The University of Barcelona launches the “Jo, pantalla” video competition

Under the 1st Conference on Communication and Mental Health of the Faculty of Information and Audiovisual Media of the University of Barcelona, the consolidated teaching innovation group In-COMAV has opened the call for entries for the micro-film competition “Jo, pantalla”. This initiative is aimed at the entire UB student community and it seeks to promote the creation of short audiovisual pieces that explore the relationship between human beings and digital screens, with special emphasis on social networks, streaming platforms and other digital media.

Under the 1st Conference on Communication and Mental Health of the Faculty of Information and Audiovisual Media of the University of Barcelona, the consolidated teaching innovation group In-COMAV has opened the call for entries for the micro-film competition “Jo, pantalla”. This initiative is aimed at the entire UB student community and it seeks to promote the creation of short audiovisual pieces that explore the relationship between human beings and digital screens, with special emphasis on social networks, streaming platforms and other digital media.
With a reflective and personal approach, the videos should highlight the effects this interaction has on people’s mental health, personal relationships, studies and identity. The competition has two prizes: the first prize is 500 euros and the second prize is 200 euros. The winners will be recognized at a public event organised by the UB’s Faculty of Information and Audiovisual Media and by the research group in Didactics of History, Geography and Other Social Sciences - Communication (DHIGECS-COM), and the rights of use will be ceded for dissemination and health promotion activities of the In-COMAV group.

The “Jo, pantalla” competition is open to all students enrolled in undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral programmes at the UB. Participants can submit unpublished videos of a maximum duration of one minute and thirty seconds, in horizontal or vertical format, on the impact of social networks on mental health and emotional well-being. The videos, which can be individual or made in collaboration, must have an original audiovisual narrative and meet the criteria of technical and artistic quality, gender perspective and a positive and preventive approach. The call for entries will remain open from 15 December 2024 to 15 February 2025. The complete terms and conditions are available on the electronic office.
