Image analysis is a key element in life science research. The diversity of imaging modalities and the development of advanced microscopy techniques have made it necessary to use image processing workflows and image analysis to obtain quantitative results. The Computer Optimised Microscopy Workshop offers a series of mixed theoretical and practical sessions aimed at demonstrating the image processing workflow required to extract quantitative information on different basic and advanced microscopy techniques. An overview of basic image processing concepts will be provided, followed by a more detailed focus on specific applications.
This course is aimed at researchers and staff working with digital images obtained using a range of optical microscopy techniques. Although no previous experience in image processing is required, a background in this area is recommended.
