The opening ceremony will take place on 7 October at 6.00 p.m. in the Paranymph Hall of the UB’s Historic Building, and can be followed in person and online via UBtv. The political scientist and cultural journalist Andrea Gumes will conduct the session, which will include musical performances and artistic performances of various disciplines, focusing on the theme of commitment. The Rector of the University, Joan Guàrdia, will preside over the ceremony, which is expected to be attended by the Catalan Minister for Research and Universities, Núria Montserrat, the President of the Board of Trustees, Joan Corominas, and the student Carles Campos, representing the UB Student Council.

A committed university

In addition to the academic and research excellence accredited by the UB, the institution stands out for prioritizing the people and the environment in which it operates in its lines of action. The UB is a microcosm of cultures, languages and different social and geographical origins. This diversity enriches university life.

Guaranteeing equal opportunities and facilitating access to higher education is another of the UB priority objectives in the field of solidarity. The University actively collaborates with social organizations to address the most pressing social challenges with the aim of improving the well-being of the community.

Through community service activities, projects and programmes, the UB fosters the integration, civic participation and social responsibility of its members, helping to build a more cohesive and inclusive society for all people at risk of exclusion. All the institution’s work in these three areas will be highlighted on 7 October.
