The Official College of Doctors of Barcelona awards the UB’s professional excellence in medicine

This year, the COMB has awarded a total of fifty-five distinctions, which also include recognition for four multidisciplinary care teams that have stood out during the year for their professional work and teamwork. The awards ceremony will take place on 25 November at the Axa Auditorium in Barcelona.

In the category of medical education, the Professional Excellence Awards 2024 have honored Professor Elena Iborra, from the UB’s Department of Clinical Sciences and head of the Department of Angiology and Vascular Surgery at Bellvitge Hospital; Pedro Castro, professor of the UB’s Department of Medicine and member of the Research Group on Hereditary Metabolic Diseases and Muscular Diseases of the Hospital Clínic de Barcelona, and Victoria Montoro, professor of the Department of Surgery and Medical-Surgical Specialities and head of the Otorhinolaryngology Service at the Hospital de Mollet.

In the biomedical research category, the COMB awarded the Professional Excellence Award to Pere Ginés, professor at the Department of Medicine, consultant of the Hepatology Service of the Hospital Clínic and head of the Chronic Liver Diseases: Molecular Mechanisms and Clinical Consequences group of IDIBAPS, and Professor Eulàlia Baselga, from the Department of Medicine and head of the Dermatology Service of the Hospital Sant Joan de Déu.

Emilio Ramos, professor at the Department of Clinical Sciences and head of the General Surgery Section at Bellvitge Hospital, has received the 2024 Professional Excellence Award in the category of hospital care medicine.
