Cambridge spin off works on ecological refrigerator systems using research with participation from the UB
Professors Lluís Mañanosa and Antoni Planes, from the Faculty of Physics of the UB, together with Xavier Moya, from the University of Cambridge, and Josep Lluís Tamarit and Pol Lloveras, from the Technical University of Catalonia (UPC), discovered a type of material with refrigeration properties similar to the refrigerator gases used in most air conditioners. This study, led by Xavier Moya, led to the creation of Barocal Ltd., a spin off by the University of Cambridge which uses this innovative technology in order to develop more ecological and energetically efficient refrigeration systems than the current ones.
