Mariño.

The forumʼs opening ceremony will take place next Monday, 29th October, at 9 a.m., in the Hotel Fira Palace Barcelona. The professor Eduardo L. Mariño, the symposium president, and Cecilia Bernsten, the ESCP president, will participate in it. Later, the opening plenary will happen, “Advances in predictive and personalized medicine” (9.30 a.m.), by the honoured researcher Manuel Perucho, expert on cancer biology.

According to the professor Eduardo L. Mariño, “Clinical Pharmacy mainly studies the relationship between medication and the patients for whom a medicine is intended. It directly contributes to improve the patientʼs condition, cure him or her, or to prevent diseases, and it develops and promotes a rational and appropriate use of medications and devices, from a cost-effectiveness standpoint and within each health system”.

The symposium is aimed at all health professionals who are interested in the relationship between patient and medication, and especially to pharmacists from the three levels of pharmaceutical care: community pharmacy, the hospital pharmacy and primary health care pharmacy. The symposiumʼs contents are organised into three modules (effective and efficient care, safe care, and patient-centred care) and it will cover several areas, from preclinical to pharmaeconomic aspects. The event will include 22 plenary sessions, 29 workshops and some oral communication and poster discussion sessions.
