The Sona UB competition, open to the entire community of the University of Barcelona, has closed the phase of presentation of musical proposals. The jury of the competition has selected ten proposals out of the 23 they received. The jury is made up of Magda Polo, professor of Music and Aesthetics at the UB; Arnau Seguí, from the Indian Runners cultural association; Eduardo Balaguer, manager of the Catalan Academy of Music; Marta Mei, director of Casa de la Música L’Hospitalet; Pol Segarra, head of the Area for Music at TRESC, and Erxart Casas, winner of Sona UB 2024.

The Sona UB competition, open to the entire community of the University of Barcelona, has closed the phase of presentation of musical proposals. The jury of the competition has selected ten proposals out of the 23 they received. The jury is made up of Magda Polo, professor of Music and Aesthetics at the UB; Arnau Seguí, from the Indian Runners cultural association; Eduardo Balaguer, manager of the Catalan Academy of Music; Marta Mei, director of Casa de la Música L’Hospitalet; Pol Segarra, head of the Area for Music at TRESC, and Erxart Casas, winner of Sona UB 2024.
Among the selection criteria, special value was given to the originality of the musical proposals, both in the musical field and in terms of the content of the texts.
The selected proposals will be put to a popular vote, among the members of the UB community, from 30 May to 9 June, through the website. The four proposals that receive the most votes will be the winners, which will be announced on 10 June and will be classified into four additional categories:

- Rising Star Prize: it rewards the band with the shortest career and the highest artistic quality.
- Accent Prize: it rewards the band with a greater diversity of backgrounds.
- Speech Prize: it rewards the band with a more elaborate social or cultural discourse.
- Artistic Quality Prize: rewards the proposal with the most elaborate or professionalized sound quality.
Before these concerts, there will be a party to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the Vespres d’Estiu on 2 July, with musical performances and fun-festive activities. The party, like the whole season of concerts, is open to the public and will feature the gastronomic offer of the Bernat Pescaire bar.
The prize also includes a promotional photo shoot, technical production support during the concert, a masterclass of artistic and technical advice and a voucher for merchandising products.
