The Interdisciplinary Meeting of Predoctoral Researchers (JIPI), the main meeting for doctoral students from all fields of knowledge in Catalonia, will reach its sixth edition on Monday, February 19.
The Interdisciplinary Meeting of Predoctoral Researchers (JIPI), the main meeting for doctoral students from all fields of knowledge in Catalonia, will reach its sixth edition on Monday, February 19.
JIPI is aimed at predoctoral students from research centers and universities and Catalan societies such as the University of Barcelona, Pompeu Fabra University, Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona or Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya. More than a third of doctoral students in Catalonia are from abroad, therefore the language of this meeting will be English -preferably.
This year there will be four flash talks, in which the speakers will talk about their research. These areas will be alternated with three debate sessions: on the presence of women in research, on science education, and the occupational openings outside the academic field, a topic already consolidated in other editions. Also, after the success from last year, there will be two poster sessions.
This year, JIPI brings some workshops, which will enable participants to debate in small groups on issues of their interest. Last yearʼs edition gathered more than 400 people from different fields, ranging from linguistics to quantum physics.
