The work reflects the UB's importance as a creator of knowledge and light, conveying the significance of education as an inalienable human right and the only viable path to achieving progress and ethical and intellectual development. 

The artist will explain its meaning on Monday 4 May at 5.30 p.m., at an event open to the whole university community.

The Historic Building will host, on 4 May, lectures and panel discussions on Ukrainian language and literature. ​​​​​​​

The 575th anniversary competition received 230 entries and awarded prizes to three short stories that explore university life through memory, doubt and learning.

The poster reinterprets a 1540 book and presents reading as a tool for imagining possible futures and other ways of inhabiting the world.

The aim is to raise €8,200 to restore and digitize these three works, dating from the 16th, 17th and 18th centuries, which are held at the UB’s Rare Book and Manuscript CRAI Library.

The papyrus, placed in the mummy’s abdomen, contains a catalogue of ships. This is the first time a Greek literary text has been found in a mummy.

On Thursday 23 April, University of Barcelona Editions will be at Passeig de Gràcia 100 (corner with Carrer Rosselló), from 9.00 a.m. to 9.00 p.m., with a stand over 12 metres long. There will be new releases and a selection from the publishing catalogue, as well as a space for authors to sign copies of some recently published titles.

An exhibition in the Historic Building brings to light the history of the School of Architecture and its fundamental role in shaping contemporary Barcelona. 

The award, presented by Serra d’Or of Montserrat Abbey, has recognized the best essay published in 2025, a book on Catalan art and religion.

The Rector, Joan Guàrdia, the vice-rector, Agustí Alcoberro, and the authors, Ramon Dilla and Raúl Deamo, took part in the presentation, held on 7 April.

The competition organized by the University of Barcelona to promote musical talent among its community is now open. 

The book, by Ramon Dilla and Raúl Deamo, combines nearly 50 illustrations and texts, and will be presented on 7 April at the Alibri bookshop as part of the 575th anniversary celebrations.

La expansión global de la extrema derecha. Un estudio de casos en Europa y América Latina, by Víctor Climent Sanjuán and Wagner Iglecias (eds.), analyses the rise of radical populist right-wing and far-right parties in Western societies.

The project, led by Professor David Cao, identifies and maps monuments, place names and commemorations from 1874 to 1939 linked to the conflict.

University of Barcelona Editions publishes ‘Carmina Burana’, música i poesia, by Ignasi-Xavier Adiego and Alejandra de Riquer, a work bringing together philology and musicology to restore the original sounds of the poems in the Codex Buranus.

The art installation ‘XMNEIA – L’últim alè’, which recalls the industrial past of Poblenou, has won a Talent Jove award in the ‘Reflections’ category.​​​​​​​

A web portal WITH resources in LSC is also created to facilitate learning and promote equal opportunities.

The Faculty of Geography and History will host, from 28 to 30 January 2026, the 3rd International Cruïlles / Crossroads Conference, which will analyse the turning points that have shaped the contemporary world. 

The University of Barcelona, the Alt Penedès and Garraf Healthcare Consortium, Castellers de Vilafranca, and the Pinnae Foundation will promote a set of educational and research initiatives to generate scientific knowledge about castellers.
